Disney has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, which will hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
Release Date and First Look at Stitch
Earlier, Disney had revealed that the movie would be available in the summer of 2025 during this year's D23 event. At the same time, the studio unveiled the first look at the iconic character "Stitch" in the upcoming film, which can be seen below:
Freaky Friday Sequel Also Announced
In addition to Lilo & Stitch, Disney also shared the release date for Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to Freaky Friday, which will reunite Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The film will be released in theaters on August 8, 2025.
A Packed Summer of Movies
Both Lilo & Stitch and Freaky Friday will be part of a jam-packed summer movie season. While each film targets a different audience, Lilo & Stitch will open on the same weekend as Mission: Impossible 8. May 2025 will also see the release of other highly anticipated films, including Marvel's Thunderbolts (May 2) and the new Karate Kid film.
Other Notable Films Coming Later in 2025
Later in the year, audiences can look forward to several other exciting releases, such as Ballerina from the John Wick universe, Pixar's Elio, How to Train Your Dragon, Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
